Mrs. Anna Carmen, a resident of St. Charles for many years, died at Des Moines Friday, Aug. 14, at the age of 73 years.
Mrs. Carmen was a native of Ireland, where she was born April 15, 1880. When she was 6 years old, she came to St. Charles with her father and sister. They operated a small store there for a number of years.
She was married in 1907 to Samuel Clarke. His death occurred in 1922; and in 1925 she married Charles Carmen, who preceded her in death in 1948.
Her nearest surviving relative is a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Blair of Des Moines. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, one of whom, David McChesney of Norton, Kansas, she reared in her home.
Funeral services were held Monday from the St. Charles United Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Osterhoff. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
