Funeral Rites Held Sunday for Long-Time Local Resident
Mrs. William H. Hildebrand, a resident of Madison county most of her life, died Friday, Dec. 16 at the Carter Nursing home in Winterset. She was 84 years of age.
Mrs. Hildebrand was the former Nancy Matilda Reed, daughter of James and Jane Reed, and was born near Andrew in Jackson county, on July 22, 1865. When she was 9 years old she came with the family to Madison county. With the exception of five years in Nebraska, and three years in Minnesota, this community had been her home since then.
She was married March 21, 1882, to William H. Hildebrand. They were the parents of seven children. The husband, and an infant daughter preceded her in death.
In early life she was a member of the United Presbyterian church, but for the last 35 years she was affiliated with the Winterset Church of Christ.
Surviving are six children, Mrs. Isabelle Springston of Gresham, Ore., Wiley Hildebrand of Des Moines, Earl Hildebrand of New Sharon, Mrs. Tina McAllister of Greybull, Wyo., Loyd Hildebrand of Casey, and Mrs. Marcella Johnson of Benson, Minn. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; in addition to a brother, S. G. Reed of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. I. E. Linkletter, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the North River U. B. cemetery.
