MRS. C. M. THOMAS DIED THURSDAY

Resident of Grand River township for 55 Years

Mrs. Charles M. Thomas, a resident of the Macksburg community for 55 years, died Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Odd Fellows home in Mason City, where she had lived the past 11 years. She was 88 years of age.

Mrs. Thomas was the former Anna J Addington, daughter of Amos and Elizabeth Addington. She was born Dec. 15, 1868, in Lee county. She was married at Pilot Grove to Charles M. Thomas on Dec. 22, 1889. In 1890 they moved to Tacoma, Wash., returning to Lee county in 1892. The following year they moved to Grand River township in Madison county, where she lived until 1946.

She was a birthright member of the Pilot Grove Friends church, later transferring to the Macksburg Methodist church. She was a member of the Women’s Relief corps and Rebekah lodge at Macksburg, receiving a 50 year membership pin in the latter organization.

Her husband and a son, Ira, preceded her in death. She leaves a son, Orin Thomas of Macksburg; a daughter, Mrs. Mabel McKee of Macksburg; 12 grandchildren; a great, great grandson; a brother, Perry Addington of Seattle, Wash. And a sister, Mrs. Linnie Polson of San Jose, Calif.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. E. K. Parrott. Burial was made in Moon cemetery there.
