Services Held For Mrs. Ben Pruitt

Funeral services were held at the Earlham Methodist church at 2:00 p.m. on December 20 for Mrs. Grace Pruitt. Rev. Robert O. Edwards officiated. Music was by Mrs. Von Fletcher and Mrs. Edwin Smith, accompanied by Mrs. Mervyn McLennan.

Casket bearers were: Glen Stegall, Ross Reynolds, Lyman Oaks, Dale Mills, Ernest Lull and Robert Branam.

Burial was in the Earlham cemetery. Her obituary follows:

GRACE MYRTLE PRUITT

Mrs. Grace Myrtle Pruitt, daughter of John and Amanda Irwin was born at Nodaway, Iowa on August 18, 1889. She departed this life December 17, 1958 after an extended illness. Mrs. Pruitt spent the greater part of her life in Iowa. She was united in marriage to Lenard Boatman in 1909 who passed away in 1915. She then was united in marriage to Ben Pruitt in 1920. To this union were born four children.

She is survived by her husband Ben Pruitt, two sons, William of Reseda, California; Vincent of Phoenix, Arizona; one daughter, Mrs. George Martin of Reseda, California. She also leaves to mourn her passing three sisters, Mrs. Frank Wisner of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, Mrs. Bessie Lewis of Gardena, California, and Mrs. Will Jones of Yorktown, Iowa.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren, several nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Mavis at the age of two years and two months, two sisters, and two brothers.

Mrs. Pruitt united with the Methodist church at the age of 16 and has been an active member of the Earlham Methodist church since coming to the Earlham community.
