Lottie Mae Andrew, daughter of Jonathan and Olive Morgan Andrew was born in Adair county, Iowa, July 3, 1888. Most of her early life was spent in the Earlham, Redfield and Bear Creek communities. She graduated from the Redfield high school in the class of 1906. following her graudation (graduation) from high school she taught in the country schools for a few years.
On March 10, 1910 she was united in marriage to Clyde Nolte and they established their home in the Bear Creek neighborshood (neighborhood). One daughter, Pauline was born to this union. With the exception of about three years which they spent in Des Moines they lived on the same farm until the fall of 1949 when they moved to Earlham. Clyde passed away on July 6, 1954.
Lottie was a birthright member of Friends. As a young woman she was active in the work of the Christian Endeavor Society. She was a charter member of the Athenian Sunday School class which was organized in 1912 and a loyal worker in the Women’s Missionary Society. For some time she taught a class of young people in the Sunday School. She was always loyal to her home and family and interested and helpful in all church and community projects.
For a number of years she had been in poor health. Her death occurred at the State Hospital in Clarinda on July 26, 1957 at the age of 69 years and 23 days. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Orla Andrew of Earlham, and Arthur Andrew of Sugar City, Colorado.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. George Mills; two grandchildren, Patricia and Charles Mills of Earlham; and two sisters, Mrs. Melva Maxson of California and Mrs. Wilbur Hoskins of Boise, Idaho; besides many other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
