Page 3FLORENCE MYERS DIES AT 88 YEARS
Had Been Resident of This county since coming Here in 1893
Mrs. Florence Myers of Winterset died at a nursing home here last Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the age of 88 years.
Mrs. Myers had been a resident of Madison county since 1893, a period of 64 years.
She was the former Florence Buswell, daughter of Joseph and Edith Salsbury Buswell, and was born March 29, 1869, near Corydon. As a baby she moved with her parents to Sterling, Ill., but when she was 5 years old they returned to Iowa, settling near Marengo.
As a young woman she taught school in Iowa counties for three years. She was married Dec. 5, 1888, to Losson B. Myers of Ladora. They farmed near Ladora until moving to Madison county in 1893.
Mr. and Mrs. Myers lived to observe their sixtieth wedding anniversary together. The husband died in 1949. She had been living in Winterset until Nov 11 of the year, when she was taken to a nursing home.
She is survived by four children, Mrs. Blanche Hendricks, Mrs. Mae Addy, and Mrs. Ethel Brittain, al of Winterset and George W. Myers of Des Moines. She leaves 24 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren; in addition to two sisters, Mrs. Mina Sobeiska of Mason City and Edith Buswell of Marengo.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was made in the North River U. B. cemetery.
