FLORENCE COMPTON

Ida Florence Haxton, daughter of C. M. and Emma Haxton was born near Earlham, Iowa on September 22, 1881 and departed this life August 5, 1972.

Florence was married to Ace Compton of Earlham on January 3, 1903. With the exception of two years in Colorado, they spent their years together in Iowa. She was preceded in death in June, 1971 by her husband of 69 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Helen Rosenberger of Indianola, Iowa, a son Charles Compton of Littleton, Colorado, four brothers and one sister living in Oklahoma and one sister in California.

There are five grandchildren, Stephen Rosenberger of Lucas, Iowa, David Rosenberger of Indianola, Iowa, Mrs. Ruth Ferguson of Loveland, Colorado, Perry Rosenberger of Indianola, Iowa and Mrs. Demeris York of Littleton, Colorado.

There are eleven great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Florence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Guthrie Center, Iowa. Since January of 1972 she had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Home at Indianola, Iowa. Previous to that she had lived at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center for six years.

Services were conducted at Guthrie Center by Rev. John Baxter of Earlham. Burial was at the Earlham cemetery.
