J. H. CHICKERING Died Here Friday

Joseph H. Chickering of Winterset died Friday, May 1, 1970, at Memorial hospital here. He was 92 years of age.

Mr. Chickering was born in Boston, Mass., on Dec 1, 1877, a son of Isaac S. and Ella C. Chickering. Most of is life was spent in the east, where he worked as a rotary tender for the New York City subway for many years. He lived at Lewis, Iowa, for 22 years, before coming to Winterset two years ago.

He was married in Boston in 1926 to Violet Lyons. His second marriage occurred April 4, 1941, at Franklin Square, Long Island, N.Y., to Agnes Taylor, who survives him.

He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a step-son, Douglas Taylor of Winterset; a step-daughter, Mrs. Raymond Haber of North port, N.Y.; and four step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First United Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John E. Fink. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
