Mike Radakovich was born in Joson Cerbia, on February 12, 1872, and passed away at the home of his son, George, near Earlham, Iowa, on April 7th, 1949, after a very short illness.

He was married to Pera Riberich in 1906 and brought his wife to America by way of New Orleans the following year. They made their home in Thornton, Illinois for two years then lived in Pueblo, Colorado. In 1912, Mr. and Mrs. Radakovich came to Earlham, Iowa, and located south of town where he farmed and worked in the stone quarry.

On June 19th, 1931, Mrs. Radakovich passed to her reward and Mike was deprived of his good help-mate, but he carried on and kept his family together. Life was not always easy for Mike but he had a brave spirit and determined to give to his family some of the advantages of which he had been deprived. Realizing some of the educational opportunities within their reach he set himself the task of helping his children attain them. How well he succeeded is now seen in his family of splendid men and women, good citizens, respected and worthy of their parentage.

Mr. and Mrs. Radakovich were reared in the faith of the Greek Church, and in their home instructed their children in the ways of the Good Life. Mike was a diligent worker, his genial personality, thrift, industry, and honesty won for him the high esteem of his many friends and neighbors around Earlham. Mike retired from active work some fourteen years ago, and since that time he has enjoyed his family, visiting them in their homes, and giving them a willing helping hand for he was a kind and considerate father.

He leaves in sorrow his family: Milosh of Enumclaw, Washington; Mildred of Long Beach, California; Fred of Chicago, Illinois; Mrs. Helen Riser of Winterset; Mrs. Mary Benz of Earlham; Mrs. Dorothy Davis now of Guam; Mrs. Sophie Dragovich of San Francisco, California; George of Earlham; Nick, a student at Iowa State College; Mrs. Anna Breen of Long Beach, California; and two sons by his first marriage still live in Europe.

There are 28 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His first wife passed on in 1902 and one daughter by that marriage in 1934. Three little sons died in infancy.

Quietly he passed his busy life, and quietly to his reward. "The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord."

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Presbyterian church conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. R. Overholser assisted by Rev. Peter Bock. He was laid to rest by the side of loved ones in the Earlham cemetery.
