Burial services for Robert D. Oliver, 39 of Washington, D. C., former Madison county resident, were held at Blair chapel cemetery near St. Charles, Monday, following funeral services which were held in Des Moines Monday morning.
Mr. Oliver died at his home last Thursday of muscular atrophy, after an illness of two and a half years. He attended East high school in Des Moines, and was in the navy 18 years, serving as chief gunner's mate during World War II. He was in the naval reserve at the time of his death.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Amanda Oliver; two sisters, Mrs. Guy Grimes, and Mrs. Ione Griese of Des Moines, and three brothers, Rex of Des Moines, Clyde of Willow Springs, Mo., and Harry Oliver of New Virginia.
