WILLIAM McMULLEN FORD

William McMullen Ford, son of Ivan S. and Elizabeth Ford, was born at Bloomfield, Iowa, Sept. 28, 1852. When 9 years old, he came with his parents to Madison county.

When grown he farmed for himself for several years and moved to Des Moines in 1882. He soon joined the fire department, where he worked for many years. His hose team held the state championship for several years and he took a great interest in his work and great pride in the success of his team.

He returned to Winterset in 1897 to help care for his father and mother. He then worked at the carpenter trade until the last three years, when failing health prevented. "Mack", as everyone called, him, was a genial, kindly friend, loved by all who knew him.

He passed away on March 21, 1925, aged 72 years,--months and 28 days. He leaves two brothers, Richard T. Ford of Winterset and Jared P. Ford of Arcadia, Nebr.; and three sisters; Mrs. E. O. Cool of North Platte, Nebr.; Mrs. Harold Eyerly of North Loup, Nebr., and Mrs. Will J. Smith of Winterset; besides many friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Tidrick funeral home, conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
