Thayer Willard Roach

Thayer Willard Roach was born in Madison county, January 25, 1919. Since that time he has lived with his parents on a farm northwest of Cumming, attending the Lee No. 1 school Lee township for eight years. Had he been privileged to remain with us until Friday of this week, he would have completed his eighth grade examinations and was planning on entering high school next fall.

At an early age he was deeply interested in Sunday school and church work and was converted two years ago and at that time was baptized in the Christian faith and became affiliated with the Cumming community church. In helping at home he has always been most willing to do the little things that count for the most. To his brother John Alvin and his sisters, Mary Ellen and Audrey Pearl he has always been thoughtful and kind and willing to do anything necessary for their welfare.

He departed this life May 5, 1933 at the Iowa Methodist hospital where he had been taken for medical attention. He leaves to mourn, his father John R. Roach, his mother Eunice M. Roach, one brother, John Alvin and two sisters, Mary Ellen and Audrey Pearl, grandfather and grandmother Knouf.
