MRS. EMMA KNOWLES DIED TUESDAY, NOV. 6

Mrs. Emma Knowles of Des Moines, former Madison county resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 6 after a brief illness, at the age of 81 years.

Mrs. Knowles, the former Emma Bowlsby, daughter of the late William H. and Maria Duff Bowlsby of the Worthington neighborhood, was born in Madison township, July 5, 1870. Here she spent the first 23 years of her life. She joined the Worthington Methodist church when 17 years of age, later transferring her membership to the Asbury Methodist church in Des Moines.

In March, 1894, she was married to I. B. Knowles of Des Moines and that city had since been her home. They were the parents of one daughter, Marjorie Gladys, now Mrs. J. M. Wicham of Wisconsin. Mr. Knowles died in 1932. She is survived by the daughter and the latters husband, and their two sons, and also three sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 9th at Dunn's Funeral home and burial was made at the Laurel Hill cemetery in Des Moines.
