November 28, 1951DR. ROBERT GAMBLE OF MADRID DIES
Dr. Robert Anderson Gamble who was born and raised in Madison county, and had been a Madrid physician for 33 years, died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines last Thursday morning after a few days illness with coronary thrombosis, at the age of 72 years.
A son of the late Michael and Esther Gamble, he was born on a farm in Crawford township. He was a graduate of the former St. Louis, Mo., Physicians and Surgeons college. Before going to Madrid he practiced 11 years in Atlantic.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie and two sisters, Mrs. Roscoe Gibson of Evanston, Ill., and Mrs. Laura Milford of Clearwater, Kan. He was a member of the Des Moines Consistory, and the Lions club of Madrid.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in Madrid, and burial was made in the Glendale cemetery at Des Moines.
