DEATH OF ED NEWLON

Word has been received here of the death of Ed A. Newlon, a former Winterset resident, Saturday evening, September 16th at his home in Los Angeles. Mr. Newlon who was 64 years of age had a heart attack which caused his death at nine o'clock that evening. Funeral services were held in Los Angeles Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife and step daughter of Los Angeles; three sisters, Mrs. Phil R. Wilkinson and Mrs. Will Shambaugh of Winterset and Mrs. Mary Green of Ames; and two brothers, George of Helena, Montana and Will of Glendale, California.

Mr. Newlon was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William C. Newlon. When a young man he served as deputy clerk of Madison county while his father was clerk. About thirty years ago, he moved to Great Falls, Montana, where he was in the banking business. He later was in the same business in Missoula, but ten years ago, disposed of his business interests and has since been retired, and living in Los Angeles. Mr. Newlon usually returned to Winterset every two or three years and his last visit here, was at the death of his mother, Mrs. Lydia Newlon, three years ago.
