Long-Time Resident of St. Charles Community Died Feb. 12

Mrs. Sarah Strable of St. Charles whose death Feb. 12 was reported last week, was a long-time resident of this community. For many years her home was on a farm northeast of town. In recent years, she had lived in St. Charles.
Mrs. Strable was 80 years of age. Her death occurred at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Strable was the former Sarah Elizabeth Slayden, daughter of Benjamin and Delilah Smith Slayden. She was born in Decatur county Jan. 15, 1871. At the age of two months, her parents moved to a farm in Madison county, south of Tileville, where her father cleared the land and built a log house.
She was married to Frank Strable Dec. 22, 1891.
Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by five sons, Ernest, Verne, Guy, Carl and Ray Strable, all of near St. Charles and three daughters, Mrs. Alice Cummings of Prole, Mrs. Bertha Stroud of Macksburg, and Mrs. Evelyn Roth of St. Charles. She also leaves a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother, Dave Slayden of Wick and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle McCollum of Chariton.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church here last Thursday, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Hall. Burial was made in the Blair Chapel cemetery.
