Lived in That Community 40 Years; Was 55 years of Age
William P. Armstrong died at his home in St. Charles Saturday Dec. 14 at the age of 55 years. A painted (painter) by trade, he had been a resident of Madison County for the last 40 years.
He was a native of Warren county, where he was born Aug. 4, 1902, a son of William and Ellie Armstrong. He was married Nov. 11, 1925, at Indianola, to Ella F. Cole, who survives him.
In addition to his wife; he leaves, 10 children; Janet, Bonnie and Shirley Armstrong at home, Wayne Armstrong of U. S. navy, Mrs. Beulah Veasman of Indianola, Robert Armstrong and Mrs. Fern Wiggins of Portland, Ore, Mrs. Hattie O’Brien of Sioux City, Mrs. Dorothy Campbell of New Virginia, and Harley Armstrong of Des Moines. He also leaves three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Eldon Haworth of Leon, and the Rev. Clifford Pine of St. Charles. Burial was made in the St. Charles Cemetery.
