Former Winterset Resident Died in California On Aug. 18
Clyde A. Addy, former resident of Winterset and Madison county, died Sunday, Aug. 18, at San Gabriel, Calif., where he had lived the last 14 years. He was 79 years of age.
Mr. Addy was born June 2, 1878 in Cambridge, O., a son of Alexander and Mary Addy. When he was 8 years old he came to Madison county with his parents. He was married Jan. 17, 1900, to Lydia Walker. Her death occurred in 1931. On July 10, 1934, he was married to Mrs. Velma Chadwick of Des Moines, who survives him.
He moved from Winterset to California in 1943.
Surviving are a son, Joy Addy; a daughter, Mrs. Harrell Ruth, both of California; two step-children, William Chadwick of Des Moines and Mrs. Betty Peterson of South Gate, Calif.; four sisters, including his twin, Mrs. Emma Thompson of Winterset, and Mrs. Blanche Brooker of Winterset, Mrs. Leo Walters of Rapid City, S. D. and Mrs. Greta Dorrell of Mississippi, three brothers, O.D. Addy, Sr., Guy Addy, Sr., and Finley Addy, all of Winterset; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held here Saturday from the Richards Funeral home conducted by the Rev. George DeF Fisher, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Jefferson cemetery in Jefferson township.
