EVA PHILLIPS, Winterset

Eva Phillips, 97, of Winterset died Feb. 11, 2007, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Visitation will be today (Wednesday, Feb. 14) from noon to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Greenfield Cemetery.

Eva Phillips was born June 9, 1909, in Madison County to Archibald and Alice (Slight) Jones. On March 4, 1926, she married Lee Edward “Tom” Grasty. Following his death, she later married Elmer Phillips on March 20, 1937. Eva worked as a domestic caregiver for a short time and, following her marriage to Elmer, became a farmwife. She was a resident of Adair and Madison counties her entire life.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; three brothers, Cecil, Everett and Eldon Jones; and four sisters, Agnes Rudolph, Maxine Voss, Esther Beghtel and Mary Lou Mattox.

She is survived by one son, Robert Grasty of Greenfield; one daughter, Wanda Mae Hawker of Winterset; a brother, Wayne Jones of Stuart; a sister, Iola Waddell of Walnut; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Friends Church in Stuart.
