NATHAN SIMMONS DIED ON SUNDAY

Life-Long Resident of This County Was 77 Years of Age

Nathan E. Simmons, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, a few days after being stricken with a heart attack. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Simmons was born in the Fairview neighborhood Dec. 16, 1870, the son of Joseph and Mary Simmons. His active life was spent in farming, first near Fairview and later in the DeSoto community. For the last 14 years he had made his home with his step-son, Carl Hines of Winterset.

He was married June 6, 1917 to Mrs. Julia Hines. Her death occurred in 1933.

In addition to the step-son, Carl Hines, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ollie Taggart of Coon Rapids.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Fairview church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. C. A. Crouse of Earlham. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
