HILTON POWERS DIED ON MONDAY

Monroe Township Farmer Had Been in Ill Health Last Two Years

Hilton Powers, a well known Monroe township farmer for many years, died Monday, June 14 at the Creston hospital. He was 55 years of age and had been in failing health the last two years.

John Hilton Harry Powers was born June 1, 1893, in Morgan county, Illinois, the son of Edwin and Lyla Powers. In 1907, he came with his parents to Monroe township, which had since been his home.

As a young man he was married there to Blanche Weeks. They were the parents of one daughter, Mary Winifred Powers.

In addition to the wife and daughter, he leaves two brothers, Clarence E. Powers of Oskaloosa and Phil Powers of Winterset; five sisters, Mrs. Charlie Speers of Harrisburg, Pa., Mrs. Georgia Veach of Chicago, Mrs. Alman Shearer of Lorimor, Mrs. Paul Roby of Truro, and Mrs. Carl Wilson of Ames.

Funeral services will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Fellowship church, in charge of the Rev. Woodrow Caldwell, pastor of the Macksburg Baptist church. Burial will be made in the Hamblin cemetery.
