SERVICES HELD FOR DROWNING VICTIM

Funeral services were held last Saturday from Hamilton's Funeral home in Des Moines for Everett Purscell, former Winterset resident, who was drowned Tuesday, July 26, while swimming in the Des Moines river, southeast of Des Moines. Burial was made in Des Moines.

Mr. Purscell was 37 years of age. He had gone swimming in the river with his son and daughter when the tragedy occurred.

Mr. Purscell was born in Winterset, a son of Jim and Hattie Purscell and his early life was spent in this community. He moved to Newton in 1943 and served in the U. S. Marines during World War II. In recent years he had lived in Des Moines, where he was employed in the Woods Brothers plant.

He is survived by his wife and five children, ranging in age from 5 to 17 years. They are Gaylord, John, Carl, Everett and Barbara. He also leaves his mother of Winterset; and five brothers, Fred, Joe, and Lawrence of Des Moines, Louis of Colfax and Guy of Winterset.
