SHAFER SERVICES SET FOR THURSDAY

Wilbur Shafer of Marshalltown died at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset this Tuesday, March 12. He had been brought to the Peterson Nursing home in Winterset last Saturday and from there was taken to the hospital

Mr. Shafer was 83 years of age. He was a native of Butler county, where he was born May 5, 1873, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Talbert Shafer. His active life was spent in farming. He was a member of the Eagles lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie Blanche; a daughter, Ruth of Des Moines; three sons, Charles M. Shafer of Winterset, Lynn Shafer of Houston, Tex., and Burr Shafer of Neosho, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Grace Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Richard Mohr. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
