MRS. LAURA POWERS (FOWLER) OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Mrs. Laura Fowler, a long-time resident of the St. Charles community, died Friday, Dec. 28, at a Des Moines nursing home. She was 82 years of age, and had been in failing health for four years.

Mrs. Fowler was born in New Virginia on Nov 9, 1874, a daughter of Joseph and Arah Jane Van Scoy. In 1892 she moved with her parents to Woodburn, living there until 1901, when she moved with her family to St. Charles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mrs. Lela Frederickson; six sisters; and her twin brother, Lair Van Scoy.

Surviving are three grandchildren, Mrs. Barbara Campbell, Mrs. Callie Lou O’Neal both of West Des Moines and Gleason Frederickson of Dixon, Calif.; and eight great grandchildren.
