Mrs. Frances M. Porter, a resident of Madison county for 65 years, died Sunday, Jan. 20 at a St. Charles nursing home at the age of 90 years.
Mrs. Porter was the former, Frances May Mothern (Mothorn), daughter of Giles and Mary Harris Mothorn. She was born in Mahaska county on July 3, 1866. Her early life was spent near Cameron, Mo., and she was married to James A. Porter at Plattsburg, Mo., on May 17, 1884. They located in Madison county. The husband died in 1919.
She was a member of the Peru Methodist church.
Surviving are three sons, Alfred, John and Walter Porter, all of Peru; a daughter, Mrs. Clara Jones of Des Moines; a niece who made her home with the family in early life, Mrs. Mary Helstrom Glasgow of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Peru Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. J.A.E. Cunningham. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
