Death Occurs at Hospital in Osceola at Age of 71 Years
Stephen E. Young, who was born in a log cabin on the farm northeast of Truro where he spent his entire life, died Sunday, Nov. 7 at the Osceola hospital at the age of 71 years.
Mr. Young was born May 21, 1877. He was the youngest of 12 children born to J. J. and Sarah Young, pioneer settlers who came to Madison county in a covered wagon.
On July 12, 1905, he was married to Grace Irene Dowler. They were the parents of three children, one of whom died in infancy. The wife and mother died in 1942.
Mr. Young was widely known in the Truro community. He was a member of the Methodist church there.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Goering of St. Charles; a son, Lloyd Young of Martensdale; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Muselman of Osceola and Mrs. Liva Foreman of Winterset.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Methodist church in Truro, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. W. J. Fowler. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
