HOUSTON L. MOORE DIED HERE TUESDAY

Broken Hip, Received About Month Ago, Ends in Death of Aged Citizen

Houston L. Moore of Jackson township, a veteran Madison county farmer, died at the hospital in Winterset Tuesday night. He was 87 years of age.

Mr. Moore had suffered a fractured hip in a fall about a month ago, and had been confined to a hospital since that time.

Mr. Moore had been a farmer in Madison county practically all his long life, since young manhood. He was born in Adams county, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Hannah Buchanan Moore, on May 13, 1852. As a child he came with his parents to Illinois and as a young man to Boone county, Iowa. A few years later he came to Madison county which since had been his home.

He was married on March 20, 1879 to Martha Jane Cowden who survives him. He also leaves a son, Milo Moore of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. J. F. Wurster of Pueblo, Colo.; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, R. M. Moore of Pitzer and W. R. Moore of Dexter; and two sisters, Mrs. C. D. Barr of Dexter and Mrs. S. P. Woods of Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral services will be held from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset Friday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. L. F. Porter of Waterloo, former United Presbyterian pastor here. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
