SAM TOKEIM DIED SUNDAY IN WINTERSET

Death Occurs Here at Home of Daughter, Mrs. James Silliman

Sam Tokeim, long-time Iowa resident, died here Sunday morning, April 11th at the age of 85 years.

Mr. Tokeim, who was born in Odda, Norway, April 16, 1862, came to the United States when he was a young man, 21 years of age. Since that time he had spent most of his life in northern Iowa, but he and his wife came to Winterset last year to reside with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Silliman. For the past few weeks he and Mrs. Tokeim had been residing at the M. S. Black home.

Mr. Tokeim is survived by his wife and their five children: Mrs. Julia Zachariaon of Elmore, Minn., Clarence Tokeim of Jewell, Martin of Swea City and Theodore Tokeim of Mason City and Mrs. Silliman of Winterset. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Tokeims had lived in Armstrong and Estherville before breaking up their home four years ago.

His funeral services were held at Swea City Tuesday afternoon and burial was made in the cemetery at that town. Mrs. Tokeim accompanied the Silliman family to Swea City and is remaining there.
