Local Building Contractor and Carpenter for Many Years Dies
Jay Thompson, formerly a well known building contractor, and carpenter in Winterset, died last Thursday, May 6, at his home in Pasadena, Calif., according to word received here. He was 64 years of age.
Mr. Thompson spent most of his active life in Winterset. He came here as a young man, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bush Thompson, and left here about four years ago, after his health had started to fail.
He is survived by his wife, of Pasadena; six sons, Dana, Charles and Wilbur Thompson, all of Creston, Richard, Kenneth, and Donald Thompson of Pasadena; one daughter, Mrs. Irwin Martin of Creston; six grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Thompson of Winterset; and a sister, Mrs. Elmer Cowan of Pasadena.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday at Pasadena, and burial was made in a cemetery there.
