MRS. NELLIE GATES DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Mrs. Nellie Foster Gates, formerly of Madison county, died July 8 as result of a heart attack, at Laguna Beach, Calif., according to word received here.

Mrs. Gates was the former Nellie Foster, daughter of Ashford and Jennie Foster. She graduated from the Winterset high school and taught school here. She moved to Denver, where she lived for a number of years, before moving to Laguna Beach. Her husband died several years ago.

Mrs. Gates was 70 years of age. She was here last Memorial day to bring the ashes of her father here for interment. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Miles and family of Winterset had visited her during their recent trip to California.

She leaves a son, Phillip Gates, of Laguna Beach, Calif., and a daughter, Phyllis Senger of Redondo Beach.

Funeral services were held at Long Beach.
