JOHN M. DAVIS DIED SATURDAY

Winterset Resident lived in Madison County for 51 Years

John M. Davis, a resident of Madison county for 51 years, died Saturday, July 13, after an extended period of failing health. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Davis was born at Griswold on March 28, 1875, a son of E. and Susan Davis. His early life was spent near Griswold. His active years were spent in farming.

He was married at Griswold on Feb. 26, 1896, to Hannah Twining. Her death occurred three years ago.

Survivors include four children, Dall Davis of Griswold, Mrs. William Post of Winterset, Mrs. John Shellburg of Red Oak, and Frank Davis of Winterset; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Fred Boyce, pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran church of Winterset. Burial was made in Flint cemetery at Griswold.
