Former Resident Here Dies In Burlington

Mrs. Victoria Stracke, a former Winterset resident, died at the home of her daughter, Miss Agnes Stracke in Burlington, Sunday morning, October 9th at the age of 91 years. Burial was made at Warsaw, Illinois.

It was in the spring of 1859 that Mr. and Mrs. Louis Stracke came from Keokuk to Winterset. Mr. Stracke had come to take charge of the county dispensary which was located in the St. Nicholas hotel, where now stands the Citizens National Bank. While living in Winterset, they were neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Derrick Bennett.

In the fall of 1860 they moved to a farm in Jefferson township now known as the Julius Riemann farm. They sold the farm in 1866 to John Hutenbower and moved to Warsaw, Illinois, where they resided until the death of Mr. Stracke, about twenty years ago. Since that time Mrs. Stracke has made her home in Burlington.
