MRS. M. S. TAYLOR DIES AT HOME OF SON

Mrs. Margaret S. Taylor, 75, died Tuesday night at the home of her son, Leo Taylor, Sr., on north Second street. She had made her home here since last August and had been in failing health the last month.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Ohio and went with her parents to a farm near McLean, Illinois. She was married to Woodford H. Taylor of Bloomington, Illinois, in 1876. They lived at Girard, Kansas where their three sons, Oliver, Pearl, and Leo, were born.

In 1886, lured by the great movement of people going west in search of new lands, they moved by covered wagon and mule team across Kansas and over into Colorado, where they homesteaded near Lamar. Two children were born to them here, Orville who is deceased and a daughter, Gladys.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were charter members of the Methodist churches at Lamar and Wiley. One of the two large granite monuments at Lamar, making the old Santa Fe trail, dedicated to the pioneer mothers, bears the name of Mrs. Taylor.

Mr. Taylor died in 1918 and Mrs. Taylor moved to Wiley where she lived until two years ago when she gave up her home to live with her sons and daughter. She is survived by a brother, E. A. Eyestone of Pittsburgh, Kansas; her children Oliver of Satanta, Kansas; Pearl of Wiley, Colorado; Leo of Winterset; Mrs. Dan N. Jackson of Coldwater, Kansas.

Mr. Taylor will accompany his mother’s body to Wiley, leaving Winterset Thursday evening. Services are to be Sunday and burial will be at Wiley near the old homestead.
