Passes at Age of 56 Years After Lingering Illness
Mrs. Grace Fetters, a resident of the Winterset community for most of her life, died here Monday, May 17, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Bass, after a lingering illness. She was 56 years of age.
Mrs. Fetters was the former Grace Edith Thornbrugh,daughter of J. C. and Emily Thornbrugh, and was born in Madison county Aug. 13, 1891.
On June 27, 1912, she was married to Fred Compton. They were the parents of two daughters, one of whom, Madalyn, died at the age of 5 years. Mr. Compton was killed in a construction accident in Minnesota in 1928.
She was married to Dr. L. M. Fetters on Dec. 28, 1930. They spent a few years at Eldorado Springs, Mo., before returning to Iowa, which had since been her home. Doctor Fetters also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Bass; two granddaughters; three sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. J. Judge. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
