MRS. EDGAR CLAGUE DIED ON THURSDAY

Life-Long Resident of This County Succumbs After Major Operation

Mrs. Edgar Clague, a life-long resident of Madison county, died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines last Thursday, Jan. 22, following a major operation. She was 63 years of age.

Mrs. Clague was the former Delora May Kingery, daughter of Sarah and George Kingery, and was born near Lorimor May 24, 1884. Her early life was spent on a farm in the Kasson community, but she moved with her parents to the Worthington community when she was 17 years of age.

She was married to Edgar Clague on Jan. 4, 1905. They lived two years on a farm near St. Charles before returning to the Worthington community, where the remainder of her life was spent.

She had joined the Church of Christ at an early age, and was an active worker over a long period of years in the Worthington church.

She is survived by her husband; their son, Gaylon Clague of the Worthington community; three granddaughters; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred King of Ames, Mrs. Emma Stroup of Creston and Mrs. Rosa Kunath of Creston; a half sister, Mrs. Cloyd Mills of Winterset; and a half brother, Wright Kingery of Patterson.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Worthington church in charge of the Rev. Reed Kessler, assisted by the Rev. Ivan Mills. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

OBITUARY

Delora May Kingery, daughter of Sarah and George Kingery, was born near Lorimor, May 24, 1884, and passed away January 22, 1948, at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines at the age of 63 years.

Her schooling was at Kasson, near Lorimor, and her girlhood was spent at a farm home there.

When 17 years old she moved with her parents to the home in the Worthington community where Gaylon, her son now lives.

Here she was married to Edgar Clague on January 4, 1905.

They lived for two years near St. Charles and then came to the present home in the Worthington community where they have since lived.

She joined the Church of Christ at an early age. Since coming to Worthington she has been faithful in the work of the Kingdom at the Worthington church.

She loved her home and spent her life in quiet, serene service to those she loved. For years she bore her pain with a beautiful spirit, and her pleasant smile has made of her home a lovely place.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Edgar, her son Gaylon and wife June, and three granddaughters, Shirley Jo, Sharon Louise, and Connie Jean. Three sisters, Mrs. Mildred King of Ames; Mrs. Emma Stroup of Creston; and Mrs. Rosa Kunath of Creston; a half-sister, Mrs. Jennie Mills of Winterset; and a half-brother, Wright Kingery of Patterson.
