ABNER BLACK, 89 DIED HERE SUNDAY

Funeral Services Held on Tuesday for Life-Long Resident

Abner Black, one of Madison county's oldest residents, died at his home in Winterset Sunday, April 25. He was 89 years of age.

Mr. Black was born in Madison county, Nov. 22, 1858, and his entire life was spent here, with the exception of a brief period in Colorado.

He was married March 21, 1886 to Lida McKibban of the Ord neighborhood. Their active years were spent on the farm. After retiring they moved to Colorado, and after a short stay there they returned to Winterset to make their home. Mrs. Black died here about 14 years ago.

Nearest surviving relatives include a half brother, Harry Black of Winterset; two half sisters, Mrs. C. W. Brown of Winterset, and Mrs. Jennie Williams of Los Angeles, Calif.; and an aunt, Mrs. Emma Foglesong of Stuart.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Anderson home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. A. R. Weed of Tingley. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
