Winterset, IowaHERTA GAEKLE DIED ON MONDAY
Services Set Thursday for Life-long Resident of Winterset.
Hertha O. Gaekle, a life-long resident of Winterset and member of the formerly well know family here, died Monday, Dec 24, at the age of 76 years.
Miss Gaekle was the second of six children born to Andrew and Mary Huglin Gaekle. She was born in Winterset, March 28, 1880. Her life was spent here with the exception of two years at Polk City.
Her active life was spent here as a clerk in Winterset stores. She was employed for many years by the H. N. Shaw company, and later by Seidler’s grocery.
She was a member of the Winterset Methodist church, and was affiliated with Crown Rebekah lodge, the Order of Easter Star, and Past Noble Grand’s club.
Surviving are a sister, Louise Gaekle of Muscatine; a brother Rigo Gaekle of Ottumwa; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Anderson Home for Funerals, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
