Sadie Scoonover Fleming was born at Blue Grass, Iowa, on September 21, 1881, and passed from this life on November 5, 1957, at the age of 76 years. She came to Earlham at an early age, and has made her home here since that time.
On February 11, 1908 she was married to Marion J. Fleming of Earlham. They lived many years on farms in the vicinity of Earlham, later retiring, and moving into town.
To them were born two children, Georgia Joy Wilson of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and Arthur William Fleming of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. She is survived by both of these children, her husband Marion Fleming, a sister, Fannie Farrier of Des Moines, a grandson, Richard W. Fleming of Kansas City, Kansas, and a granddaughter, Janet Fleming Frost of Kansas City, Kansas.
She was a long-time member of the Earlham Friends church, and was an active and interested member. For a number of years she had regularly taught the Gleaners class of older women in the Sunday school. She will be greatly missed by her many friends both in the church and the community.
The funeral service was held in the local Friends church on Friday, November 8, with the pastor, L. Williard Reynolds, in charge. Burial was in the Earlham Cemetery.
