Winterset Resident for 11 Years; Was 57 Years of Age
Mrs. C. L. Ditto of Creston, well known former Winterset resident, died at the Greater Community hospital in Creston, Saturday, April 7th at 8 o’clock in the evening. Mrs. Ditto, who was 57 years of age, had been in failing health for several years, but had taught in the Prescott high school for two years; she became seriously ill, two weeks ago with urenic poisoning and had been in the hospital since that time.
Mr. and Mrs. Ditto moved to Winterset from Spencer in 1934, and lived here for 11 years, when he was transferred to Davenport, where they resided until in January 1944; since then they have lived in Creston where he is Secretary-Treasurer of the Creston Production Association, which still retains a branch office in Winterset.
Madge Rennecker Ditto was born in Carson, Iowa, and later the family moved to Anthon. She was graduated from Iowa state college in Ames in 1921, shere she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi national sorority. She was also a member of Mortor Board, national honorary activity sorority and the Order of Eastern Star. She was married to Mr. Ditto, July 2, 1921.
Mrs. Ditto is survived by her husband, and two sisters, Mrs. Cora B. Foster of Bronson, and Mrs. Gertrude D. Bennett of Anthon.
A brief funeral service for Mrs. Ditto was held Monday at Coen’s home for funerals in Creston at 1:30 p.m. and immediately after the ceremony the body was taken to Anthon, where services and burial were held on Tuesday. The Rev. R. G. W. Collins conducted the Creston services and the faculty and students of the Prescott high school attended in a group.
