Funeral Held Saturday With Burial in Winterset Cemetery
Mrs. Rosa M. Smith of Winterset, long-time resident of Madison county, died here Thursday, June 8 at the age of 75 years.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Polk county, where she was born June 3, 1875. She was the former Rosa May Acheson, daughter of Joseph and Louise Acheson.
As a young woman she taught in the rural schools of Madison county. She was married March 24, 1895, to Martin J. Smith. They were the parents of three children, all of whom survivie. Her husband died in 1944.
She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Edith Henderson of Dumont and Mable Smith at home; a son, Arthur Smith of Winterset; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Clopton of Winterset; and two brothers, Eddie and Alvin Acheson of Cheyenne, Wyo.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Glenn Parrott, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
