Mertie M. Egy, daughter of John and Mary Ann Rehard was born June 19, 1872 in Madison County, Iowa and departed this life at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, January 22, 1932 at the age of 59 years, 7 months and 3 days.
She was united in marriage to David P. Egy, December 11, 1889 and to this union was born 11 children.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and daughter Hazel and two sons, Claude and Walter at home; three daughters, Ruth Parcaut of Anthon, Mrs. William Johnson of Stuart and Mrs. Roy Cunningham of Winterset; three sons, Ray, Joe and Glen of Winterset; also 10 grandchildren. Two sons Hugh and Dean having preceded her in death.
She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a faithful wife and a kind loving mother and was loved and adored by all who knew her.
A member of the Eastern Star lodge and an active worker until the time of her death, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Olmstead, assisted by the Eastern Star, Monday afternoon from Tidrick Funeral home and interment was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
