1924Roland M. Foster was born February 15, 1858 near Dublin, Henry County, Indiana, and died Tuesday February 26, at Earlham, Iowa.
Brother Foster was married Sunday April 18, 1886, at Cawker City, Kansas, to Leona Jeanette Ayers. To this union was born one son, Merle, now of Washington, D. C., who with the devoted wife, was present and attended his father during his last illness.
After the death of Mrs. Foster in 1897, Brother Foster was married at Earlham, Iowa, to Isabella Hodson, with whom he lived until his death. To them were born twin children who died in infancy. Besides his wife and son, one brother, John L. Foster, of Paonia, Colorado, a half brother in Philadelphia, Pa., and one in La Feria, Texas, survive him.
Brother Foster was always a devout Christian man a firm believer in, and supporter of the prayer meeting, the family altar and the Bible. He was raised in the Friends Church, later joining the United Brethren Church of which he was a member for 15 years, then uniting with the Methodist Episcopal Church, at Pleasantville, Iowa. Since his coming to Earlham, he has been a faithful and consistent member of the local society. Mr. Foster followed the photographer’s profession for more than 40 years.
“I am Anchored In Jesus,” a favorite hymn which was sung at the funeral service, represents the profound spiritual principle of Brother Foster’s life. He was an affectionate husband, a wise and loving father and a good man.
