John William Bell

John William Bell, son of John W. and Jane Bell, was born in Warren county, Iowa, April 21, 1861, and died February 23, 1932, at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 2 days. He was married to Martha Vandorn on the 4th day of March 1885 and to this union were born two children, Elda, who died in infancy and Ethel, who is now Mrs. Richard Evans. Mrs. Bell died September 24, 1889.

He was married to Mrs. Rosalie Miles, January 24, 1910 and they were the parents of a daughter, Doris Lavina who is still with her mother.

He was a faithful and loving husband and father and a good neighbor.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his two daughters, Mrs. Richard Evans of Des Moines and Doris at home, and seven grandchildren, all children of Mrs. Evans. He also leaves five stepchildren, Mrs. James Lathrum of Truro, Charles Miles of Portland, Michigan, Mrs. L. I. Weeks of Belgrade, Nebraska, Ray Miles of Lorimor and Mrs. D. C. Taylor of Colfax. Three brothers, Manford Bell of Watertown, South Dakota, Samuel of Beverly, Kansas, Harrison of Oregon and one sister, Mrs. Lois Benham Wrham of Atlantic and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Rev. A. P. Keast, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the funeral services at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, Friday morning at 10 o'clock and burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.

St. Charles -

Word came to friends here Wednesday of the death of John Bell south of Winterset.

Mr. Bell and family lived for several years near St. Charles, only moving from the community a few years ago.

Burial was at Union Chapel Friday morning.
