ELLA CYNTHIA GARRETT

Ella Cynthia Garrett, daughter of William and Tabitha Evans Garrett who were pioneer residents of Madison County, was born Jan. 1, 1858.

The place of her birth, Henrick County, Indiana. She was the third in a family of eight children and is survived by her five brothers, J. M. Garrett of Seattle, Wash.; M. J. and C. F. Garrett of El Paso, Texas; E. O. Garrett of Cedar Falls, Iowa and R. V. Garrett of Fremont. Nebr.

She was married to Charles E. Whitenack March 10, 1880 and lived for many years in this vicinity, where her two sons and two daughters, who are present today, were born. Mrs. Floy R. Bowen, Reedsburg, Wis.; Raymond V. Whitenack, Carroll; Layton Whitenack, Mt. Auburn, Iowa; Mrs. Harold M. Brown, Klamath Falls, Ore.

Her husband passed away December 6th, 1906 and is buried in the Worthington Cemetery.

She united with the Methodist Church in her early childhood and was always a devoted follower of the Master. Removing her church membership along with her wherever she moved and placing it always with the church where she lived.

Interment at Worthington Cemetery 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Rev. McEldowney conducted the services assisted by Rev. A. R. Weed.
