MORTUARY

George H. Orr

George Harrison Orr was born in Monroeville, Huron county, Ohio, Jan. 19, 1841. He was a son of James and Martha Orr. Mr. Orr was married to Miss Cathryne Grey, March 12, 1862. In 1879, they moved to Madison county, Iowa, and settled on a farm in Scott township. Here they remained until 1905, when they retired and moved to Winterset.

Mr. and Mrs. Orr were the parents of seven children, all of whom are living: Mrs. A. L. Foster of Denver, Colo.; Will Orr of Madison county, Mrs. T. E. Feeley of Denver, Colo.; Frank Orr of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. M. R. Foster of Madison county; Harry Orr of Colbran, Colo.; and Robert Orr of St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Orr departed this life Dec. 23, 1918, about six years after they had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Orr was made a Mason in Bucyrus lodge No. 139 at Bucyrus, Ohio, in 1872. He was admitted to Eastern Star lodge No. 43, A. F. and A. M., April 2, 1915. He united with the Methodist church of this city during the year 1921 and enjoyed attending all the services. He was a man of excellent health and ability, considering his advanced years. He always prided himself in taking part in the social and political affairs of the county. Having been a man of this character, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Orr departed this life Nov. 3, 1922 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 14 days. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, Nov. 6th at 2:30 p. m., conducted by Rev. D. J. Shenton. Interment was in the Winterset cemetery, in charge of the Masonic order.
