George A. McCleary

George Albert oldest son of William and Mary McCleary, was born in Madison county, Nov. 6, 1860, and departed this life Nov. 2, 1922, aged 62 years. He lived all his life near the home of his birth.

He united with the U. P. church a number of years ago under the pastorate of Rev. Purdy, and has always been a believer in the same power of his Redeemer. In a last conversation with one of the members of his family, he professed his faith in his Heavenly Father, and said he was ready to go when the final summons come.

He leaves an aged mother, two brothers and three sisters; one brother and one sister proceeding him. Those living are Mrs. Sarah O. Dillon of Los Animos, Colo.; Mrs. B. F. Cooper of Lamar, Colo.; Wm. A. McCleary of Winterset, Mrs. Margaret Grimes of Derby and A. B. McCleary of Van Meter. He was an honest, upright citizen and will be missed by those who knew him best.

The funeral services were conducted at Jefferson church by Rev. Hollingshead and his remains laid to rest in the Jefferson cemetery.
