Death of Rex Spooner

The death of Rex Spooner, cashier of the Stuart Savings bank, came last Thursday morning as the result of the accident he sustained on the previous Sunday evening. Mr. Spooner suffered two amputations, but infection set in, in spite of all that could be done.

Funeral services were held in Des Moines Saturday. Mr. Spooner came here in March, 1915, remaining until 1916, during which time he was assistant cashier of the First National bank. He married Miss Beulah Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Thompson, then residents of Winterset. Mr. and Mrs. Spooner moved to Dexter from Winterset, then to Stuart, as he held bank positions in both places. Mr. Spooner’s death was a great shock to this community, where he was regarded as a young man of sterling qualities, much liked and full of promise as a business man.

His family and friends will have the deep sympathy of Madison county friends in their sorrow.
