81-Year-Old Woman Lived Half Century in This County
Mrs. Kathryn Cushing, whose death at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth Trumbauer of St. Charles, was reported last week, was a native of the Booneville community. She was the former Kathryn Spatz, daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Spatz, and was born near Booneville, Dec. 23, 1868. The last 50 years of her life was spent in Madison county.
She was 81 years of age when her death occurred Sunday, Aug. 20.
She was married to William Cushing Sept. 3, 1894. They were the parents of five children, one son, Charles Cushing preceding his mother in death. She also reared two step-children, and a grandson in her home.
She is survived by four children, Elizabeth Trumbauer of St. Charles, Pearle Shultz of Stuart, Mark Cushing of Royal Oak, Mich., Ralph Cushing of Detroit, a step-daughter, Mary Ferrias of Clear Lake and the grandson, Ray Trumbauer of Winterset. She also leaves five other grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a brother, Marlin Spatz of Adel, and a sister, Julia Spatz of Minneapolis.
