Death of Mrs. Nancy Rollstin

Mrs. Nancy J. Rollstin, aged resident of Madison county, died at her home in Winterset, early Thursday morning, May 11th. Mrs. Rollstin who was 89 years of age had been in poor health for several years, and her health gradually failed this last winter.

She was a daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Shields and came to this county with them in 1855. On July 1, 1858 she was married to Porter Rollstin and they lived for many years on a farm in Scott township. She suffered many of the hardships of pioneer days and was left alone with three young children for three years during the Civil War. They later moved to Winterset, and Mr. Rollstin died in 1913.

Mrs. Rollstin was a member of the Baptist church and attended as long as her health would permit. Her pastor, the Rev. F. W. Madson conducted her funeral services Saturday afternoon, May 13th at 2:30 o'clock at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

She was the mother of ten children, four of whom survive her; Mrs. C. B. Holmes, U. S. Woodward and Mrs. F. G. Martin of Winterset; and one son, S. A. Rollstin of Allen's Park, Colorado. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Her pallbearers were nephews and other close relatives; Frank, Rex and Cliff Martin, Lester Holmes, P. J. Rollstin and Orville Rollstin.
