FORMER MAYOR DIES FROM HEART ATTACK

Several Years of Poor Health End With Death of A. L. Larrimer

A. L. Larrimer, owner of Larrimer's bakery and former Winterset mayor, died at his home, early Thursday morning, April 27th at the age of 58 years. Mr. Larrimer had been in poor health for several years but he was able to continue with his work. It is stated that Thursday morning he went down to the bakery and then went back upstairs to his apartment and went back to bed. Mrs. Larrimer was in another room of the apartment and she heard him call. He died before a physician could be summoned.

The deceased was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, March 25, 1875. His father died when he was a child of a few months. When still a boy his mother took him to Des Moines, where he grew up and received his schooling. He learned the bakers's trade as a young man. In 1904 he came to Winterset and worked in the bakery for 23 years. He took pride in developing his skill and was honored among the bakers of Iowa by the presidency of their state association for nine years or from 1922 to 1931. He was among those of the National Bakers association who appealed to Congress to send America's surplus wheat to the starving of China.

He has served Winterset as a public official twice, as councilman and as mayor from 1931 to 1933. He was conscientious in his service to these offices. He was also a faithful member of the Masonic and Modern Woodmen lodges.

In 1901 Mr. Larrimer was married to Miss Katherine Brobst. She together with his aged mother, Mrs. Jennie Young of Hay Springs, Nebraska, are the only immediate relatives surviving.

Funeral services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Sunday afternoon, April 30th at 2 o'clock. The Rev. W. C. Porter, pastor of the United Presbyterian church conducted them and he was assisted by the Rev. A. P. Keast of the Methodist church. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
